Window shopping for bananas

In Juniper's World Journal on July 27, 2006 at 9:57 pm

window shopping for bananas Originally uploaded by gumbootspearlz. Bananas have been very expensive lately since a cyclone called Larry. Soon the wait will be over and they will be cheaper. Go mascot monkey. I still know people waiting for their windows to be fixed, there are still a lot of tarps up, but I do see the banana plantations making a slow comeback. I can’t wait to be able to afford bananas again.

We went to visit a childhood friend of Hawkeyes and went to his carpet shop. He said that people often think it is an art gallery when they see the pictures on the carpets in the window. This one is a rather wonderful looking and romantic image. Atticus was much intrigued by it.

Port Douglas Dreaming was visiting the market, carpet shops, celebrating a Holy Day with friends from the Gundoye camp, me taking lots of photographs of gumboots and starting to branch out to people in public places, like Jewellers. Some of the stalls at the Port Douglas market as just brilliant. I particularly liked the market trees though which provided a natural kind of shelter from the sunlight.
